EXPLANATIONS

Osamotnienie, bezsilność, niemożność wstania z łóżka rano i zaparzenia sobie choćby herbaty. Zamknięcie w pokoju bez światła, bez nadziei. Bycie – niebycie.

EXPLANATIONS
(PHOTOGRAPHY, 2011-2012)

It is a series that was being created over a few months between 2011 and 2012. The foundation for starting this project was deep and lasting depression of my friend. The series of meetings devoted to long conversations resulted in series titled “Explanations”

The images are an attempt to keep dense, impossible to name and what’s more to picture, emotional states that cumulate in us not only when the illnesses defined, but they seem to be familiar to all of us.

Loneliness, helplessness, inability to get up from the bed in the morning and making tea. Closing oneself in a room, without light, without hope. Existence- non- existence. Dying slowly, expulsion from reality by us and by others. There is something strange going on with the body in such state – it becomes evenly important and unimportant.

Important because it is it that fails – the gears in the head spin in a different way, as if they are not oiled, they grind. They do not matter, pushed aside, negated. It is the body that became starting point of the series. What else is the proof of our continuous existence if not the body? The rhythm of the breaths, movements of pupils, dry mouth. These are the proofs that we still exist/ are.

In the state of extreme internal tension, deep depression the notion of body change - shapeless mind means shapeless body. Searching for new identity leads through multiple metamorphosis - persistent search of “one’s own shape” - if there is any will of fight left.
